Employer branding: video

A good employer branding video happens so often as a solar eclipse. It is very strange because such a movie can do much good, and its creation is not the cost of Hollywood productions. On the other hand, video is good when you have a good idea, and this is even more difficult to get than a budget. But there are videos that can be considered as a model to follow (not copy).

One of the companies which creating such a videos has led to perfection is Google. Here’s one excellent example:

2 minutes 20 seconds during which we learn a lot about how and with whom they are working in the company. The video shows that in the company works people of different nationalities, races, ages, etc.. We know that Google employees have at the office yoga, Pilates, and food (free of course) better than in many a New York restaurants. This video concerns about the work in the New York office, but if you are interested in other locations (such as London, Dublin and Santa Monica is not a problem. Similarly, if you wanted to know how the interview looks like)

But not only Google knows how to use the video to show the company values that it’s always hard to present. Just imagine the slogan “we guarantee work in a relaxed atmosphere.” Something similar you can easily find in in almost every recruiting announcement (at least here in Poland) and because of that not many people calls attention to this statement. Similarly, the “work in young ambitious team.” And how to show work with special people? For example, as Intel did:

Intel has prepared a series of videos that should be mandatory material for any person dealing with employer branding. Let’s watch Intel Rock Stars:

Our jokes are different than yours:

Our parties are different than yours:

Our team players are different than yours:

OUr meetings are different than yours:

And how to present the company, which very very serious? For example, just as it was done in the case of Deloitte: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMRo9Ye5FLU

Another interesting video was created by KPMG (in this video you will find the statment: the place where is a balance of both private and professional life):

Another example is video “I am IBMER”, representing IBM employees who say, why they work in this particular company. Just minutes to learn a lot:

Microsoft’s recruitment video, aimed at potential employees of research department. Longer, more serious, but with a lot of particulars:

And here’s another example (Microsoft again) how to show recruitment process:

Employer branding movies are not only what companies do. America’s Army does it for long time:

As you can see business and army talks in similar language, reffering to almost the same values. In the end not from today, “Art of War” is very popular book among managers.
