Larry Page and Sergey Brin – the founders of the most popular search engine in the world – will sell 10 million shares within the next five years. Currently, the two most important men in Mountain View has a total of 57.7 million shares, which gives them 59% of votes at the General Shareholders Meeting. In five years Page and Brin will have about 10 million shares less, which give them less than 50% of the votes at the General Shareholders Meeting. According to the current valuation 10 million shares are worth 2.25 billion dollars. On the one hand, this means that the founders of Google would lose the dominant position in the company, but claims to Mashable, it is unlikely that other investors voted against the authors of success.
Getting rid of the shares shall be given to heads of Google to invest in other ventures. (The same movement performed before Bill Gates).
In fact, the amount of over 2 billion U.S. dollars will allow the heads of Google still actively operate in the market and to invest in interesting companies. Of course, it does not necessarily mean investments in companies connected to the Internet. With high probability it can be assumed that they will invest in other industries. By the way, gentlemen have in this area some experience.
Suffice it to recall the history of the company 23andMe founded in 2006 by two ladies – Linda Avey and Anne Wojcicki. The second lady is the wife of Sergey Brin, and Google is a shareholder in 23andMe.
23andMe deals with conducting genetic tests, so you can find out whether you are a holder of genes that favor the development of cancer, Parkinson’s, etc.
On the occasion, company 23andMe establish a data base of patients. If you combine these data with data that Google has gathered, it is created a very accurate picture of (part of) society which on the one hand, it is bad (because of such knowledge readily special forces and will do so through various channels. Official as the FBI or the CIA, and less formal, eg . the Chinese. Maybe a bit conspiracy theory, but probably only a little.) on the other – a perfect knowledge base for researchers looking for cancer drugs, etc.
Apart from 23andMe, the heads of Google is also investing in modern medicine, space exploration and environmentally friendly technologies.
