Watch your mailings, man

I have received mailing from Euroflorist.pl which is company delivering flowers. They’re great, I am regular client and I am little confused.

I have no pretensions to Euroflorist about this mailing. It is rather a proof that it is worth to consider what and to who you’re sending mailing. And you should think a few times. Errors, I think, can not be avoided in 100%, but it is worth to (and should) do everything what is possible to make it to minimum.

I am using Euroflorist.pl services quite often and I have to admit that the level of service is high. Complaint occurred to me once, and the problem has been resolved in a manner worthy of praise. I can not complain about them. What is more, they know how to stop the client, for example, through a policy of discount and mailings.

Yesterday I got mailing entitled: Your dad wants attention!

Well, I was strongly surprised, because the topic in the context of my situation sounded like grim joke, British joke or specific guide sent by the service of … the cemetery. Unfortunately my father is dead, therefore the information that demands attention – well, you should understand how it sounds.

In Euroflorist.pl, someone assumed that all customers having mothers and fathers. The assumption in principle is correct, because everyone has parnets. The problem is that not all parents are alive, and some people for various reasons do not want to remember their parents. It happens. In Euroflorist.pl someone assumed that Father’s Day is approaching and tjey should take this opportunity, send the mailing, which will give x% of the additional orders. (Although let’s face it, that we give flowers to women, gentlemen prefer other gifts). In Euroflorist.pl likely someone has thought that such a mailing won’t be received negatively, it can’t arouse negative emotions or to make someone upset.

I really do not intend to condemn the company (and I will certainly use their service in the future). This mailing made me just to think, as being on the other side (and I happen to me to send mailings often) protect yourself from these stories. The easiest way would be to ask the users if they wishes to receive mailings. For example, if you want to receive notifications of upcoming Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, the Day of Grandfather and Grandmother’s Day, etc.

While this may not be a problem, and I’m exaggerating. Quite possibly.
